Projo Editorial: Creating Housing and Jobs
An editorial in Tuesday's Providence Journal celebrates the success of the Building Homes Rhode Island program (BHRI), the state program created thanks to the majority of voters in 2006 who approved a $50 million bond to create affordable apartments and starter homes throughout the state.

The report's findings indicate that the initial $25 million BHRI dollars disbursed generated $385 million in economic activity, representing an economic multiplier of about $16 per $1 invested.

Study finds affordable home development fuels economic gains
A new study commissioned by Local Initiatives Support Corporation (LISC) and Enterprise Community Partners (Enterprise) shows how developing affordable homes can expand neighborhood spending power, raise surrounding property values and help low-income families stabilize their economic outlook. Enterprise and LISC released this report based on data analysis done by the Furman Center for Real Estate and Urban Policy at New York University and independent consultants.
