Webster Bank Promotes Sharon Trask to

Vice President, Market Manager of Providence/Shoreline Region

PROVIDENCE, R.I., July 19, 2010 – Webster Bank, the main subsidiary of Webster Financial Corporation (NYSE: WBS), announced today that Sharon E. Trask has been promoted to Vice President, Market Manager covering the Providence/Shoreline region. She will be responsible for the overall operations of 14 Webster Bank branches in a territory stretching from Providence, Rhode Island to Essex, Connecticut.

Trask joined Webster in 2009 as Vice President, Branch Manager of the new Pontiac Avenue branch in Cranston. Prior to joining Webster, she was employed by Citizens Bank for 19 years, serving the Cranston and Providence markets. Trask, a graduate of Bryant University, is an active member of the Cranston Chamber of Commerce. She resides in Greene, R.I.
