Nonprofits Get Help Meeting Reporting Deadline

Nonprofit corporations can beat the state's July 30 deadline for filing 2010 annual reports by using our on-line filing tool. More than 6,700 nonprofits ranging from hospitals and foundations to Little Leagues and condo associations are subject to the requirement.

Electronic filing lowers costs and enables them to work from anywhere at any time. Every nonprofit has its own unique Customer Identification Number and Personal Identification Number in order to ensure security.

Nonprofits can still choose to file their reports by mail or in person. Failure to file an annual report can result in the revocation of your corporate authority or a fine or both.

Making Elections More Transparent

You are invited to a public lottery at the State House this Friday at 5 p.m.. We will use a borrowed Lottery machine to determine the order in which political parties and candidates for state and federal office will appear on the ballots for the Sept. 14 primary and Nov. 2 general election.

Until then, use our database to track whether your favorite candidates have submitted the certified signatures of enough voters to qualify to have their names on the ballot.
The certified signature totals are updated every weeknight, so on most mornings you can wake up to the most current numbers that have been reported to us by local boards of canvassers.

Albion Mill

Learn more about the heyday of Rhode Island's dramatic mills by visiting "Mills: a Glimpse of Rhode Island's Past" at the State Archives. The free exhibit includes an array of photographs, plans and maps that depict the period from 1858 to 1920 when mills made Rhode Island the manufacturing capital of the nation.
